One week to go until the journey begins

Hello, everyone!  I am excited to share the adventures of an upcoming research cruise I am a part of heading out to Bear Seamount (39°55’N 67°30’W), about 160 miles SE of Newport, RI.  We leave Newport on Oct. 14th for two weeks of deep sea biodiversity fieldwork fun!  Bear Seamount is an extinct volcano south of Georges Bank, part of the 30 or so seamounts in the New England seamount chain.  We will be aboard the NOAA ship Pisces, a 209ft fisheries survey vessel that has the ability to support a wide variety of oceanographic research projects.

Feel free to "follow" this blog and post any questions or comments you may have.  If you have trouble posting comments, you can also email me at Judkins@mail.usf.edu and I will answer/comment back within the blog. Looking forward to sharing our experience with you!
